NOTE: This guide only applies to our Cruise Search Widgets and not the Cruises API.
Smart Linking is a feature of the Cruise Search which allows you to direct your customers directly to the content you want on the Cruise Search. This could be to a Ship, a specific Cruise, or a Specific Search.
Instead of directly linking to the section you want, you can also use the feature to setup the Cruise Search onto another page and making it load on a specific section.
For example, your homepage might feature the Cruise Search with the embed code we provided you. This will load it by default to the Search section as below.
However, you might also want to have a dedicated page that loads onto something specific. For example, you might want to create a page dedicated to P&O Cruises, featuring a Cruise Search loading directly onto all the P&O Cruises (ie the search results of selecting 'P&O Cruises').
This can be done by opening the direct URL in the original embed code we sent you which ends in .widget
Once you have that link opened, perform the actions that will lead you to the content you want to feature on that other page. We're using "All P&O Cruises" as our example. So we're simply selecting 'P&O Cruises' in the Cruise Lines field, and hitting SEARCH.
The Smart Linking feature means that you will get a specific link in your address bar, which reflects your position on the Cruise Search. This is the page we want our new Cruise Search to load on. So once you have reached the page you want, copy the URL from your address bar.
Next, update the embed code and replace the .widget link, with the one you just copied, making sure that you do not include the "https:". It should start with src="//[the rest of your URL]
Once that is done, you can embed this new embed code in the new page. Once you load that page, the Cruise Search will automatically open to the section you wanted. In our case, 'All P&O Cruises'.
